We took part in the third edition of Biennale Innovazione, a two-day event of meetings and in-depth analyses, creativity and networking entirely dedicated to the strategic impacts of Industry 4.0 on the business models of Italian companies and aimed at the top management of the most innovative companies in Italy and Central Europe.
The Ideas 4.0 presentation “Production hub & spoke models” was given by Pietro Cassani, and focused on how the fourth industrial revolution enables the Hub and Spoke model, which allows the development of local, customised development using “light” factories closer to the consumer. Distributed Footprints and Mini-plants will guide a new industrial configuration, developing integrated production networks through the Internet, and enabling the optimisation of production capacity based on customer order flow.
Organised by the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice in conjunction with the eight universities of the Triveneto area, Biennale Innovazione was held on 23 and 24 June in the magnificent setting of Venice.
